'Because you're handsome'

On the way home tonight from a piano recital, I ran across three kids on the subway, about 10 years old, two of them wearing Cleveland Indians caps.

I complimented them and gave them the thumbs-up. "Good team!"

I asked the boy above if I could take his picture and he asked why.

"Because of your good taste in headwear, my man."

He looked at me blankly.

"Because you're handsome," said his friend in perfect English.

At their subway stop, they approached me to say goodbye, and I held out a fist. They lined up to bump it.

"Bye-bye."

"Bye-bye."
